Pingdu is the largest county-level city in Shandong Province, covers an area of 3,176 square kilometers with a population of 1.356 million, accounting for about 1/6 of Qingdao's total. China's Top 100 Counties in Comprehensive Competitiveness,China's Top 100 Industrial Counties, China's Top 100 Counties in Manufacturing Industry, and China's Top 100 Counties in Investment Competitiveness.

 01 Long history and rich cultural deposits 

The name "Pingdu" has been used for more than 2,200 years. It was once the political, economic and cultural center of the Qi State in the Jiaodong Peninsula and a fief before the reign of Liu Che, Emperor Wudi of the Han Dynasty. It is the place where the "Tian Dan's Fire Bulls" took place. And many historical celebrities were born in Pingdu, including Xu Wanju, an astronomy and calendar expert and the creator of the Taichu Calendar, Liu Qianchu, "the loyal son of the Party" and Secretary of the CPC Shandong Provincial Committee, and Luo Zhufeng, Editor-in-Chief of Han Yu Da Ci Dian (Dictionary for Modern Chinese).

 02 Advantageous location and convenient transportation 

Located in the geometric center of the Jiaodong Peninsula, Pingdu is acclaimed as the "parlor for cooperation between Qingdao, Yantai and Weifang ". It connects Beijing, Tianjin and Hebei in the north, the Yangtze River Delta in the south, the Pacific Ocean, Japan and South Korea in the east, and the Yellow River Basin in the west.

The total length of highways ranks first in China, with roads and railways connected in the region and seaports and airports nearby. Railway: Departing from Pingdu Station of Weifang-Laixi High-speed Railway, it takes 1 hour to Jinan and 3 hours to Beijing. The freight services at the West Pingdu Station of Haitian-Qingdao Railway and China-Europe Railway Express have been put into operation. Airport: It takes a 30-minute drive to Qingdao Jiaodong International Airport. Port: It is adjacent to three major ports, Qingdao, Weifang and Yantai. The construction of Xinhe International Inland Port of Shandong Port Group has been launched.

 03 Fabulous scenery and abundant cultural tourism resources 

National Demonstration County of Leisure Agriculture and Rural Tourism, Famous City with Jiaodong Culture and Characteristics and Hometown of Shandong Provincial Folk Culture and Art.

There are 69 cultural relics protection sites in Pingdu, including 4 national key cultural relics protection sites, which are Tianzhu Mountain Cliff Stone Inscription, Jimo Ancient City and Liuqushan Tomb Group, Dongyueshi Ruins, Daze Mountain Rock Carvings and Tomb Tower Forest of Zhizang Temple, 10 provincial cultural relics protection sites and 11 municipal cultural relics protection sites. Local museums house 127,000 cultural relics and libraries house more than 6,700 volumes of ancient books. There are 117 intangible cultural heritage projects, 3 provincial-level projects, which are Zongjiazhuang Woodblock New Year Pictures, Pingdu Straw-Weaving and Qixing Tanglang Quan (Seven Star Praying Mantis) and 16 Qingdao municipal-level projects in Pingdu.

There are two AAAA-level scenic areas, including Tea Mountain Scenic Area and Blue Tree Valley Youth Expo Park, seven AAA-level scenic areas, including Andersen Fairytale Paradise, Grape Grand View Garden, Sanhe Mountain Scenic Area and Wenwang Mountain Scenic Area, etc., one national key rural tourism village, Daze Mountain Xiangsanpan Village and one national sightseeing agriculture and leisure tourism demonstration site, Gao's Manor in Daze Mountain and three "China's most beautiful villages and towns", which are Yunshan Town, Dazeshan Town and Xinhe Town.

 04 Abundant natural resources and superior agricultural endowment 

With unique agricultural resources, it is the only county/city in China with a total grain, oil, meat and fruit output ranking among the Top 100，National Advanced County for Grain Production, National Super Grain-Producing County, and China's Top 100 Counties in Rural Revitalization. It has been awarded multiple titles such as the hometown of grape, the hometown of ginger, the hometown of beef cattle and the hometown of peanut in China. The annual output includes 1.45 billion kilograms of grain, 90000 tons of peanuts, 2.8 million tons of vegetables, 280,000 tons of fruits and 200,000 tons of eggs and dairy products.

It owns 5 China Well-known Trademarks, including Majiagou Celery, Daze Mountain Grape, Xiyan Peanut Oil, Jiudian Apple and Dasen Chateau, 262 agricultural products listed in the "Three Products and One Geographical Indication" and 20 Protected Products of National Geographical Indication, including Yunshan cherry, Renzhao young garlic shoot, Dahuangbu Cherry Tomato and Pingdu Big Peanut, etc.

 05 Industrial clusters create a solid industrial foundation 

Pingdu, a city that owes its development and prosperity to industry, is now home to 40,000 enterprises from 33 countries and regions. These enterprises span 32 out of the 41 industrial categories. Pingdu has fostered the growth of four leading industries, such as Hisense's smart home appliances, advanced equipment from China Iron & Steel Research Institute Group, food and beverages from Tsingtao Brewery, and the high-end chemical industry represented by Mitsubishi, Japan. The city’s industrial agglomeration has reached an impressive 72%.

Pingdu has successfully integrated and reshaped several industries, including the beauty eyelash industry, which holds 70% of the global market share, the high-end seasoning industry, which represents 70% of the country’s market, and the straw craft industry, boasting an output value of 7 billion yuan. Furthermore, it has also developed emerging industries, such as advanced metal and other new materials, tourism and recreation, health preservation and rehabilitation, as well as general aviation. A number of industrial clusters, each with a market value ranging from ten billion to hundreds of billion yuan, are on the rise, making Pingdu a veritable advanced manufacturing base in the Jiaodong Peninsula.

 06 The development of Industrial Parks builds momentum 

With systematic, ecological and market-oriented thinking, Pingdu pioneered the "Pingdu model" of overall planning and co-construction of industrial parks. There are four comprehensive functional areas with complete functions and industrial categories and eight characteristic parks specializing in a single industry, focusing on 10 key industrial chains such as smart home appliances, food and beverage, new materials and high-end chemical industry in Pingdu City. An industrial pattern featuring complementary and differentiated development has been gradually formed.

Qingdao Jiaodong Airport Economic Demonstration Zone(Pingdu Area) : Approved by the National Development and Reform Commission and the Civil Aviation Administration of China, it is a core area for the industrial development of Qingdao and an important platform for the development of Qingdao's new materials industry.

Pingdu Economic Development Zone, Shandong Province:It is a provincial-level development zone approved by Shandong Provincial People's Government and a national new industrialization industry demonstration base.

Qingdao Pingdu Xinhe Eco-chemical Science and Technology Industrial Base:It is the only national characteristic park named "Ecological Chemical Industry" in China, one of the six functional zones, and one of the only two chemical parks in Qingdao.

Qingdao Tonghe High-tech Industrial Zoneilt is one of the first 12 electronic information industrial parks in Shandong Province and also an important automobileparts production base in the province.
