Overview of Qingdao High-tech Zone

Qingdao National High tech Industrial Development Zone (hereinafter referred to as Qingdao High tech Zone) was approved for construction in November 1992. After 30 years of development, it has formed a development pattern of "one zone affiliated with sixteen sub-parks". Those sixteen sub-parks with a total area of 564.7 square kilometers are located in ten districts of Qingdao city.

Among them, the main park in the north of Jiaozhou Bay was started in May 2008, with an area of 63.44 square kilometers. Qingdao High tech Zone is located in the core area of Jiaozhou Bay, about 20 minutes' drive to Qingdao Class 4F Jiaodong International Airport, and about 40 minutes' drive to Qingdao Port. It is about 8 kilometers to Hongdao High-speed Railway Station and 15 kilometres to Qingdao North Railway Station, where can reach Beijing and Shanghai in 3 hours. Metro Line 8 has been opened, connecting Qingdao Municipal Government Office, High-tech Zone and Jiaodong International Airport. It takes 45 minutes to reach the circle of Qingdao, so the traffic conditions are extremely convenient.

Qingdao High tech Zone adheres to the initial mission of “ Establishing the Zone on Real Economies, Powering the Zone with Industries ” and build a "1+2+1" industrial system, which cover bio-pharmaceutical and medical devices industry as the core, new-generation IT and intelligent manufacturing industries as the pillars, and modern service industry as the support. As the earliest area in Qingdao to lay out the robotics industry, Qingdao High-Tech Zone aims to build the largest robotics industry base in northern China, and has initially formed a full industrial chain from core components, body manufacturing, system integration to supporting services, covering a variety of applications such as industrial robots, service robots, special robots, etc. The zone has been approved as the first high-tech industrialization base for robots in China, and the first domestic robotics high-tech industrialization base, robotics innovative industrial cluster pilot cultivation, the first batch of Qingdao's key industrial clusters, and many other national, provincial and municipal honors, gathering more than 200 industry chain quality enterprises. Among them, Hexagon, the main enterprise of the chain, ranks first in many high-tech market segments in the world; AIP Intelligence has been ranked first in micro-motor testing system in China for five consecutive years; and Gaoce won the second prize of Shandong Province Science and Technology Progress Award for the year of 2023. Relying on the national software and information service industry demonstration base and Qingdao Software Science and Technology City, new generation IT industry of Qingdao High-tech Zone focuses on integrated circuits, information security, big data industry. With the needs of industries as a guide, new generation IT industry empowers the development of medical and health care, intelligent manufacturing and other industries. The industry has introduced industry leaders such as Sophgo, Wintec, Lansen Intelligence, and cultivated a number of local high-quality enterprises such as Zteng Technology, iStar Wafer Technology, QST, GTCOM and DaoLi Zhiyuan, etc., China Mobile Intelligent Computing Centre (Qingdao) node project with an arithmetic power of 825 PFlops is also landed. Focusing on "Growth without Worry", Qingdao High-tech Zone was selected by the Ministry of Science and Technology as one of the first science and technology financial innovation service centers, and the zone provides pure credit loans, "high-tech loans", to solve the problem for science and technology enterprises who have difficulties to raise funds. The zone acted as the city's first batch of transferring 2,640 sets of talent housing to commercial housing. More than 1,200 sets of talent housing for rent or sale are annually allocated.

Focusing on "Carefree Life", the zone launched a three-year urban renewal and construction campaign with a total investment of 14 billion yuan, comprehensively upgrading roads, infrastructure, parks, green space and other urban functions and facilities. The Outlets, Jinmao Splendors opened their doors to guests; Lanwan Art Park was comprehensively upgraded; the popularity of the business has been accelerated, and the household population has exceeded 40,000 people, an annual increase of over 30% for four consecutive years.
