The Nidec Global Appliance Industrial Park has officially entered trial operations, with full-scale production set to commence in March next year. Once at capacity, the facility will produce 14 million motors and 16 million controllers annually, establishing itself as a leading hub for the research, development, and manufacturing of advanced DC motors.

The expansive inside of the Nidec Global Appliance Industrial Park is dominated by towering factory buildings standing several meters high. Engineers work in seamless coordination inside the production workshops, busily installing and fine-tuning advanced equipment. “We’ve initiated equipment relocation for two core divisions: motor R&D and production, as well as compressor controller R&D and production,” said a spokesperson of the industrial park. “40% of the production line installation and commissioning is currently complete with some lines already operational for trial production.”  Once fully operational, the facility will integrate automated injection molding, smart manufacturing, and automated warehousing across the entire industrial chain. It will focus on developing and producing high-tech, energy-efficient motors, drives, controllers, and automated drive systems. The park is set to provide comprehensive product support to leading global appliance brands, including Haier, Hisense, and Siemens.

The Nidec Global Appliance Industrial Park is a high-priority project for Shandong Province, Qingdao City, and Jiaozhou, jointly developed by Fortune 500 company Nidec Corporation and Qingdao Shanghe Holding Development Group (SHHG). As a key investment in the China-SCO Local Economic and Trade Cooperation Demonstration Area (SCODA), the industrial park covers an area of 108,200 square meters, featuring production workshops, an integrated office building, and a technology center. “With the SCODA's supportive business environment and open market advantages, we are effectively consolidating R&D capabilities, enhancing production capacity, and upgrading equipment,” said  General Manager Cui Hengdong of Nidec Motor (Qingdao) Co., Ltd. “We are also tapping into resources from SCO and Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) markets to establish a new platform for exporting advanced technologies.”

An official from the SCODA Administrative Committee highlighted the region's commitment to fostering business growth through innovation and reform in key areas to provide comprehensive, all-encompassing support to private enterprises operating within its boundaries. By leveraging flagship projects like the Nidec Global Appliance Industrial Park, the SCODA is seeking to enhance industrial layouts, strengthen supply chains, and promote collaboration across upstream and downstream industries as part of a broader strategy to establish the region as a leading hub for advanced manufacturing.
