Qingdao has inaugurated its first bonded spot delivery warehouse for green coffee beans in the Qingdao area of the China (Shandong) Pilot Free Trade Zone (FTZ). Imported green beans can now be stored in a bonded warehouse before customs clearance and tax payments can be processed after the transaction is completed under a bonded spot trading model and this will allow private businesses to ease cashflow pressure, cut circulation costs, and improve trade efficiency and flexibility.
The first batch of green coffee beans has already been warehoused in a facility operated by Qingdao Free Trade International Logistics Co., Ltd., designated as a delivery site by the Guangzhou Commodity Exchange, a state-owned third-party public service platform licensed for comprehensive bulk commodity spot trading. The Exchange will also provide platform support and professional risk controls to ensure standardised, efficient and secure spot trading of green coffee beans.
With its hub position linking Japan and South Korea to the east and Central Asia to the west, Qingdao Port offers a major logistics corridor for international trade in green coffee beans. Supported by streamlined customs clearance measures in the FTZ, the new delivery warehouse is expected to draw more coffee industry resources to Qingdao and help expand the local coffee supply chain while accelerating the city’s push to become a key node in global coffee trade.
