The launching ceremony of the Marine Industry-Academia-Research Collaborative Innovation Alliance (Qingdao) was held on December 10. Organized by the Qingdao Municipal People's Government and co-hosted by the Qingdao Municipal Marine Development Bureau, Qingdao Municipal Science and Technology Bureau, and Qingdao Conson Development Group. Member of the Standing Committee of the Municipal Party Committee and Deputy Mayor of Qingdao Geng Tao was present at the event where he delivered a speech.
The Marine Industry-Academia-Research Collaborative Innovation Alliance (Qingdao) is composed of entities from eight key marine sectors: marine equipment, marine pharmaceuticals and bioproducts, seawater desalination and utilization, marine renewable energy, marine electronics and information, deep-sea exploration, modern fisheries, and marine chemicals. Its members include Qingdao-based enterprises, universities, research institutes, and providers of financial and legal services for science and technology. The Alliance also incorporates organizations from outside Qingdao that maintain strategic partnerships with the city's marine industries. It is committed to bridging the gap in the technology commercialization chain, fostering deep integration and collaborative synergy between technological and industrial innovation, and accelerating the transformation of scientific achievements into productive capabilities. To date, the Alliance has attracted 180 member organizations.
The event included the unveiling ceremony of Qingdao Ocean Investment Group and a special session on marine industry-academia-research collaborative innovation. Ten industrialization projects were launched during the session, including a modern deep-sea intelligent aquaculture initiative and the "Blue Pharmacy" marine innovative bio-pharmaceutical project. A signing ceremony for the "Blue Pharmacy" project was held, and the Alliance appointed 20 marine technology brokers, presenting them with official credentials. Additionally, professionals from the Xi'an Institute of Optics and Precision Mechanics of the Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS), Ocean University of China, fellow CAS subsidiary Qingdao Institute of Bioenergy and Bioprocess Technology (QIBEBT), and Qingdao High Innovation Capital shared their experiences and insights on models for translating scientific research into practical applications.
