The West Coast Future Culture and Arts Center has officially opened in the core area of the Ancient Town District within the Qingdao West Coast New Area (QWCNA). Featuring key venues such as the Marine Library, Marine Grand Theater, and Ocean Lounge, the center is dedicated to advancing cultural and artistic development, fostering cultural exchange, and integrating creative industries. It adds a new regional landmark as a comprehensive cultural and artistic hub.
The Marine Library, a highlight of the West Coast Future Culture and Arts Center, features an innovative "Möbius strip" design that seamlessly integrates modern Western aesthetics with the depth of traditional Chinese culture. Spanning a total area of 81,879 square meters, it stands as the largest single-structure library in Shandong Province, recognized as one of the nation's leading public libraries, and ranked among the top ten academic libraries. It aims to create an efficient, advanced, and inclusive hub for academic exchange, earning its reputation as the "Sea of Books" in the QWCNA.
Designated as an official venue by the Chinese Academy of Sciences, the Marine Library will host the Academy's annual academician meetings. It will also regularly organize scholarly lectures, symposiums, and academic conferences, cementing its role as a leading intellectual and academic exchange platform.
The Marine Grand Theater, a centerpiece of the West Coast Future Culture and Arts Center, aspires to become the QWCNA's cultural hallmark as the "Harbor of Theater." With a floor space of 24,900 square meters, the facility features a 1,200-seat grand theater, a black box theater, exhibition halls, rehearsal spaces, artistic studios, drama workshops, an art creation center, and a fashion-entertainment zone; designed to elevate the region's artistic and cultural landscape to new heights.
